Employment History
Digital Reporter at BristolWorld
Company Name: Iconic Media (Formerly National World)
January 2024 -April 2026
I worked as a digital reporter at the online news website BristolWorld. The title formed part of the Metro Unit, which meant I also wrote content for the other titles in the group (LiverpoolWorld, ManchesterWorld,NewcastleWorld, Shields Gazette, Blackpool Gazette, Sunderland Echo, Lancashire Evening Post).
As part of the role, I:
-
Pitched stories ideas for Bristol to the editor during morning conference
-
Did live coverage around the patch, including taking photos for picture galleries for stories and video to go alongside the article and on socials. These videos were edited with Adobe Premiere Pro and, more recently, Davinci Resolve
-
As part of the coverage, I have also done Facebook Lives to report on stories like the Galleon Andalucia's arrival in Bristol and Bristol International Balloon Fiesta’s Night Glow
-
In more recent months, I have created reels for the website socials, with newly recorded footage from the patch as well as by recycling archive footage to create a new video.
-
Due to the nature of journalism, I have often worked outside my ‘work hours’ (8am to 4pm, formerly 9am to 5pm) and have stayed longer during evenings or weekends to cover ongoing stories such as local events and new openings across the city.
-
As part of the Metro Unit, I have also completed weekend shifts where I was tasked to work on any breaking news for the eight titles, prepare morning content, reshare content on socials and refresh homepages for the websites periodically.
